Background
The Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Mercer (JCFGM) serves as a philanthropic resource, helping individuals and families to direct their charitable giving and guiding Jewish institutions on the importance of legacy giving and the growth of endowments.

Position
The Director of Philanthropy plays a critical role in the operations of the Foundation. The Director is responsible for administering the communal legacy giving program while managing weekly grant-making, community programs, and internal operations including communications, gift processing, and oversight of the CRM. This position is part-time, flexible, and remote with attendance at community-wide events.

Responsibilities
• Life & Legacy – coach local partners to implement a legacy giving program (including cultivation, marketing, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship), plan educational workshops, provide marketing material, track all commitments and realized gifts, report semi-annually to funders, and participate in the Life & Legacy national network organized by Harold Grinspoon Foundation
• Funds Oversight – process weekly grants from donor advised funds and other funds, assist fund holders as needed in utilizing grants portal, update data in fund management platform (including new/closed funds, contact info, grant advisor access), and run reports as needed
• Event Programming – assume a leadership role in organizing all community programs, Life & Legacy workshops, and the annual year-end celebration; this includes publicity and outreach, coordinating speakers and talking points, and general event logistics
• Marketing and Communications – partner with marketing consultant to implement annual marketing plans, including social media posts, event flyers, and annual report newsletter; assume lead role for all email communication from CRM
• Customer Relationship Management (CRM) – responsible for data entry of new accounts, updating new contact info, adding new legacy commitments and donations to Foundation; run reports as needed; send periodic emails from CRM to cohorts (fund holders, legacy donors, community at large)
• Administrative Projects – oversee the digital filing system to ensure accurate records for all fund transactions and legacy gifts, prepare acknowledgement letters for contributions to funds and donations to the Foundation, assist in managing board committees and an administrative assistant

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 3-5 years of professional experience in a nonprofit or philanthropic setting
• Working knowledge of planned giving, charitable giving, customer service, financial or client services
• Appreciation for Jewish traditions and values
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organization skills
• Technology skills including Microsoft office, database management, and social media platforms
